TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION

Graduate Teaching Associate Positions for Doctoral Students

POSITIONS:  Several graduate teaching associate positions in technology education are anticipated for the 2008-2009 academic year. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses in manufacturing, construction, communication, and/or energy and power, and managing a laboratory while pursuing an advanced degree program.

QUALIFICATIONS: Must possess a background in Technology Education with evidence of undergraduate/graduate study in the field. At least three years of teaching experience in elementary/middle/high school technology education is desirable.

SALARY:  This year (2007-2008) salary for first-year Ph.D. students is approximately $9,675 for a 50% appointment. All appointments over 49% include a full year of fee waivers valued at $6,900/quarter (out-of-state) and $3,150/qtr (in-state) for 09 hours of credit.

The Ohio State University is a major research center providing state, local, and international leadership in all fields as one of the most comprehensive universities in the world. As a part of the dynamic College of Education and Human Ecology, the Technology Education Program is faced with exciting opportunities as the faculty continues collaboration with faculty from science and mathematics education in order to provide an integrated Ph.D. program and teacher certification in technology education, as well as science and mathematics education.

During this period of transition, graduate students have the opportunity to become involved in the restructuring of undergraduate programs designed to provide the major course content for both teaching and non-teaching majors in technology education.
